From very early on Maria Shykyrinska has been surrounded by music. Living in a family of musicians - no surprise. Born and raised in Ukraine she took her first musical steps at the age of four, meeting her first piano teacher Olga Ganskaya. First concerts and successes in competitions followed, before she moved to Germany, where she started taking lessons with Ulrich Eick-Kerssenbrock. It was with him that she discovered her love for chamber music and developed to win the „Lions Competition“ and suceed several times at „Jugend musiziert“ in both solo and chamber music categories.
In 2012 Maria started her piano studies at the University for Music and Dance Cologne with Prof. Paulo Álvares. Since the very beginning of her studies she has been playing chamber music in various instrumental combinations, while playing solo recitals and piano concertos with orchestra. Throughout her studies she had the opportunity to take lessons with musicians such as Antoine Tamestit, Ariadne Daskalakis, Sheila Arnold, Mathias Buchholz, Kristian Bezuidenhout, Anne Katharina Schreiber and Kristin von der Goltz of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra and members of the Cuarteto Casals.
In 2017 Maria received her Bachelor of Music degrees and is currently studying her masters in the chamber music department of the University of Music and Dance Cologne with Prof. Anthony Spiri and Prof. Harald Schoneweg.
